visiT – Trimborn host program
The family association is launching a host program for Trimborn trips across the Atlantic. The purpose of the program is to expand opportunities for getting to know each other and exchanging ideas within the family beyond the annual family reunions, especially among the younger generation.
Become a host
We are looking for hosts who are willing to welcome other descendants of the family, especially those from across the Atlantic. There are many different options available:
I will show them my city
I will invite them to dinner
I will offer them accommodation…
If you are willing to do so, please fill out the form on the page linked here.
Visit other Trimborn descendants
The page linked here lists the places where hosts are willing to welcome other members of the family.
A travel grant for young people
It is possible to receive a travel grant. The following guidelines apply:
- You want to travel to the other side of the Atlantic and visit Trimborn relatives.
- You are a descendant of Cornelius-Balduin Trimborn and his wife or from the Pauli or Trimborn family.
- You are approximately 18 to 25 years old
- You are willing to write a travel report for TriNa/TriNe about your trip and your visit to your relatives
- You are or will become a member of the Trimborn family association
- You or your parents are willing to host guests yourself
On the linked page, you can see which locations have hosts willing to welcome you and find a form for questions.
How the idea came about
A descendant of Trimborn donated money from the estate of his very family-oriented mother to fund a scholarship exchange program for young descendants of Trimborn. What form should this exchange program take? During the course of discussions, it became clear that it should not only be an exchange for young people, but also a way to deepen contacts between all generations across the continents.
This led to the idea of visiT as a Trimborn host and exchange program.
The money provided for the travel scholarships is managed as a new additional fund of the Trimborn family association. As things stand at present, 40 travel scholarships can be awarded. Anyone from the family can support this fund financially by making a transfer to the family association’s account.
